The Accuhealth Merger & What It Means For YOU

Written by David Medeiros | Jul 18, 2024 4:36:33 PM

You may have heard the news. As of July 9th, 2024, Accuhealth has merged with Signallamp, supported by additional investment from Sunstone. Since our inception, Accuhealth has worked to provide the best possible remote patient monitoring solution.

And while we’ve achieved significant success, we recognize there is always room for improvement. That’s where Signallamp Health comes in.

Based in Scranton, PA, Signallamp focuses on chronic care management to support patient outcomes from the moment they leave your healthcare facility. They really do Take Care Further™.

So, what does all that mean for you and your organization? Why should you even care? And what does that mean for your patients?

Let’s talk about it.

In this post, we cover:

  • What is remote patient monitoring?
  • What is chronic care management?
  • How do they come together?
  • What does that mean for you?

What is Remote Patient Monitoring? Accuhealth's Speciality

Before we get into the weeds, let’s recap.

Remote patient monitoring (RPM) involves using devices to transmit a range of health data (i.e. Blood Pressure, Weight, Pulse, Blood Glucose, and more) back to providers via the Electronic Health Record (EHR). When paired with high-quality remote patient monitoring software, it’s an extremely beneficial service.

Consider a cardiology patient who has to travel hours to get to the doctor. No matter how big and impactful the health system is, that distance can and will negatively affect that patient's healthcare experience.

Instead of taking that long, involved drive, they can be comfortable in their own home and get the accurate care they deserve. It’s a win all around, especially when you consider how much room that opens up in any sized healthcare facility for new patients.

Simply put, Accuhealth is the bridge between those patients and the providers that serve them.

What is Chronic Care Management? Signallamp's Expertise

Now, where does chronic care management (CCM) come in? Aren’t they the same thing?

Not at all. While remote patient monitoring solutions focus on primary care for the average patient and fills the gap between regular instances of care, chronic care management takes on a different role.

For example, managing one chronic disease (something Accuhealth would help with) is already complex for both the patient and the care team. When a second chronic condition is added, things get way more complicated. Organizing care, treating their comorbidities, and maintaining a quality life between the two takes a specific type of program and care.

That is what chronic care management is all about.

CCM’s focus is all about minimizing complications, lowering the cost of care, and proactively managing patient conditions. These patients are too used to the opposite, and thankfully, chronic care management eases that burden.

It’s a very unique offering that RPM can enhance but not replace.

How They Come Together, The Merger

With Accuhealth and Signallamp coming together, there are practical advantages to our combined effort. This merger is creating one of the largest providers of remote care services in the nation—and that’s not just a catchphrase.

We collectively operate out of Tampa, FL, and Scranton, PA, to McAllen and Edinburg, TX. We have incredible, talented, multifaceted, remote teams of people.

The combined company is immediately supporting over 300 organizations with a deck of CCM and remote patient services. We have clients in 48 states and a workforce across 40. This is a big operation that just got a lot bigger.

To top it off, our combined teams are standing at the ready to help your organization reach a new standard of the highest quality.

What That Means For You

Healthcare in the U.S. is limited by a lot of different factors. Implementing new technology does not come naturally and is often treated suspiciously (with good reason). Whether you work in a neighbourhood family practice or a federally qualified health system, you know that “the new thing” can easily turn out to be snake oil.

We know that for many practice leaders, the promise of remote solutions is fickle, but by merging with Signallamp, Accuhealth is able to stand even taller by our promise. Now, our ability to support our clients and all of their remote needs increases drastically, as does our ability to bolster and further improve patient outcomes.

Your team gets more time and flexibility to provide their best care. Accuhealth has a lot to offer your organization, but now that value has doubled.
